If you have read my post on the Waterbury Public Library, then you already know that I am a huge lover of books. It will then come as no surprise that this is another one of my favorite places. I have been here many times and I have even tried to "stump" them a few times in mentioning a book that they are not familiar with. I have lost this content time and time again. So it just goes to show the level of experience and expertise and knowledge that they have at Bridgeside Books. They have a great selection of books-including a rather impressive Vermont Section (Vermont Authors, Vermont History, Vermont almost anything you may need or want). And if you are looking for something that they don't have, their ability to get it for you is another pleasant surprise. They can even gift wrap for you year 'round! I highly recommend Bridgeside Books. If you happen to stop by, you will see why.
I loved the poetry reading tonight. This is what a bookstore can give us that no internet can replace - community & conspiracy. I felt like each of the poets, in their own way, was trying to understand an unfathomable heart or world, the intersection of time, space and soul. By reducing it down to a small enough moment they connected and elevated us all to the irreducible experience of being alive. Thanks...
